Hitchcock on happiness
I spent a high school summer working my way through Alfred Hitchcock’s catalog (VCR tapes from the local video store, to date myself.) I still think he’s brilliant, and suspect he would have been great fun as a dinner guest.
I live in Cobble Hill and love it (don’t think it can be beat for the combination of amenities, convenience and overall neighborhood feel), but have my eye on Carroll Gardens or Windsor Terrace for my next move.
What neighborhood should I move to in Brooklyn? Is Park Slope all married people? Should I live by the park?

In 1933, F. Scott Fitzgerald ended a letter to his 11-year-old daughter, Scottie, with the following:
Things to worry about:
Worry about courage
Worry about cleanliness
Worry about efficiency
Worry about horsemanship
Things not to worry about:
Don’t worry about popular opinion
Don’t worry…

I think Superbowl Sunday has edged out Thanksgiving as my favorite holiday. Like Thanksgiving, it features some of my favorite foods (Turkey and fixings vs. pigs in a blanket, 7 layer dip, wings and Velveeta with salsa.) On both days sports watching, afternoon naps and daytime drinking (all things I like) are acceptable, even encouraged. But on Superbowl Sunday there’s no pressure to shop afterwards and it isn’t incorporated into one of the worst travel weekends of the year. If only this year’s game had had a better outcome.
